It sounds like your MPU board is loose.
First thing to check (with the power on) is to open the door and move the reels. If they move freely they are not getting any signal to the stepper motors. My prediction is that they freely move.
Next turn the machine off - pull the hopper out. In the back you should have a large black knob - this is the MPU tray. Lift straight up and then out pull out. Simply replace the board back and make sure it is pressed down well and seated.
When you turn the power back on you should get the stiff reels and numbers and such on your display. Post back and let us know how you made out.

Hi Jay
Thanks for trying to help me. I tried your tips and they did not work. The wheels are not moving freely. My MPU is on the top of my machine. There is an Aluminum box on top. The front opens up and I have two circuit boards in there laying horizontal. I pulled them out, amd pushed them back in firmly. I still do not get any numbers coming up on the front display and the wheels do not turn. By the way, I goofed on the name of my slot machine. It is an IGT Fancy Fruit Model #1634-D.
Thanks
Tom

The machine type you have is called:
Soverign or IGT-S-SLOT Australian.
If the numbers did display at some time , it probly the battery thats gone flat.
If its a RAM-BATTERY combo ( Lithium ) , you'l need to replace with the same kind.
or install a 3.6V NiCd battery and change the jumpers so that you can measure 3V on the RAM chip.
Also install a 1K Ohm resistor and 1N4148 diode from the 5V line to the battery , with the cathode of the diode to the positive pole of the bettery.
Note : Record the position of your jumpers , only one jumper needs to be changed for the voltage to be present on the RAM chip ( legs # 26 & 13 ).
If no success , contact me again..
Goodluck..

I also forgot to mention :
1) That the battery must be installed in designated battery position.
2) The resistor and diode must be in series.

You could try just bending down the tab to press the armature down so that everything goes to the hopper.Talking of the hopper, why is there what looks like a turtle that fell into a blender stuck to the middle?(edit) I'm going to answer my own question on that. Its purpose is to send coins down into the cash box under the machine when the hopper is full. The parts are identical in every respect to American machines, though. There seems to be a bit missing from your hopper - that would be a thing like a nerf golf ball on an arm that operates a microswitch. How to win on bally slot machines. If it's sending all coins down that way, the diverter coil under the coin mech (see pic) isn't being operated by the hopper-full microswitch.

OK - This one has me dazed and confused. On a IGT S-Plus (Haywire), the only thing that works are the fluorescents. There is nothing on the digital display - dark. The three fuses are all good (even replaced each one on suspicion). Reset button also does nothing. Removed the mother board and reseated. Candle is dark also. Anybody have any suggestions on this one? I'm not finding any info in the manual regarding a machine with the display totally out. It assumes you can always get an error code and / or the reset button does something.
Thanks for your time and help - - -

Assuming your getting no reel movement or solinoids making noise sounds like lack of power to the processor board. When you say you removed the motherboard I'll take it that you mean the processor board, ie. transformer, reel & game chips etc. Take a look at the board at the bottom of the machine that the processor board plugs into, thats the mother board. There are also a number of harnesses that plug into the motherboard which can come out, get loose which could cause your problem if the harness from the power supply to that board accidently got pulled out.
Just throwing out a guess.

Your right about no reel movement or solinoids engaging and you're also right about my error on the 'mother board' (caught myself on that one after the message was already sent)! Using your suggetion, I checked all the plugs and harnesses going into the 'real' motherboard - and nothing changed when I powered up the machine. I'm going to guess the processor board is getting power (or partial power) because the heat sinks on some of the componets were still warm after removing it the first time to check for something obvious.
Again - Thanks for your time and suggestions!!

IF the processor board seems to be getting power then I would pull the CMOS chip off the board for a minute to try and reset things. Reinstall the chip, reinstall the processor board and see what you get. Also since your going to have the hopper out take a good look at those harnesses where they plug into the motherboard from the power supply, they have been known to overheat at times, melt the connector and could cause a voltage drop but not complete loss of juice.

Well........tried everything you suggested and it's still DOA (except for lights). The reels do jump a little (very slight) when the machine is first turned on. Also checked all the plugs and harnesses that connect to the mother board and nothing appears burned or melted. Reseated all connections on the MB. The only fuses on an S Plus are the three above the transformer - correct.
Thanks again for the time and effort !!

Assuming the reels have power (they should be stiff when you turn the machine on) then the processor board is seated in the machine correctly and you have checked all the harnesses then I would suspect either the chips or the board itself. I would check the chips to make sure all the legs are still attached and are inserted correctly. If you have another set of reel and/or game chips try changing them out. If the chips were ever put in upside down and the machine powered up then those chips are no good.
